Who We Are

The Institute of Corporate Governance of Kenya (ICGK) is a professional membership organization that was established to propagate, promote, deepen and entrench the Corporate Governance principles and practices of Accountability, Transparency, Integrity, Responsibility, and Excellence in both public and private organizations.

 

ICGK was founded as a self-regulating membership organization for directors and members of governing bodies i.e. boards of directors, boards of management, boards of trustees, county executive committees, etc.

 

The Institute is governed by a 9- member Council chaired by the President, and a Secretariat headed by a Chief Executive Officer. Its membership cuts across all economic sectors and embraces individual and corporate membership.

 

ICGK is a member of the African Corporate Governance Network and the International Corporate Governance Society.

Objectives:

The main objective of the Institute is two-fold. On the one hand, the Institute takes an active part in promoting and developing Good  Corporate Governance scholarship and in organizing professional events and activities for Corporate Governance practitioners and Scholars in Kenya and at the international level.

 

      1. Promoting global best corporate governance standards and practices.
      2. Promoting knowledge sharing as well as innovative training and learning practices for directors and members of governing bodies
      3. Raising awareness about global best corporate governance standards and practices, and forging consensus for reform through workshops, symposia, roundtables, seminars, conferences, research, etc.
      4. Providing consultancy services and technical support for organizations to excel in good governance practices
      5. Supporting institutions to develop corporate governance policies and codes, and facilitate implementation of such policies and codes.
      6. Pioneering research on the corporate governance field.
